How to Install macOS 10.15 Catalina on VMware on Windows PC
Take the following 3 steps:
Step 1: Download macOS 10.15 Catalina.app from Apple Store.
You will need a Mac to download macOS 10.15 Catalina.app from App store.
macOS 10.15 Catalina.app will be downloaded into Applications folder.

Step 2: Create a bootable macOS 10.15 Catalina.iso

Install macOS 10.15 Catalina into VMware virtual machine
- You may want to download VMware Workstation Player here. Otherwise, you could download the latest VMware Workstation Player from here.
Install Install VMware Workstation 15 Player
Install Patch Tool - I personally recommend using version 3.0: https://github.com/DrDonk/unlocker/releases/tag/3.0.0
The patch will add Apple Mac OS X into the Guest Operating System.
Create a VMware Virtual Machine
From VMware interface, click on “create a new virtual machine”, just follow the New Virtual Machine Wizard to go further processes. When it asks you to select the Guest OS go ahead and select macOS and then click ‘Next’.
In the next screen, set the Virtual machine name (macOS Catalina is an example), set the location that the machine is going to be stored. Set the disk size, and choose “Store virtual machine as a single file”.
After the Virtual machine is created, before Start it up, we need to make some modifications from the Setting.
+, Set the RAM
+, Set CPU
+, And it’s so important to add the Install macOS 10.15 Catalina.iso into the CD/DVD.
+, Go to USB Controller and choose USB 3.0 at USB Compatibility.
- Change Virtual Machine Configuration file
+, Go to the folder that the virtual machine was created into, edit the Virtual Machine Configuration file using Notepad.
+, Add the Add the following code at the bottom, then save the configuration file by “Ctrl+S”.

Turn On and start the macOS Catalina machine, whatever it comes after that, just Shut it download with “Power Off”.
Go back to the Virtual Machine setting, go into Options tab and change Guest OS to Windows and Version to Windows 10 x64. Click “OK” to save. This move is IMPORTANT!
AND NOW WE ARE REALLY READY TO TURN ON THE VIRTUAL MACHINE TO START INSTALLING macOS Catalina.
Turn on your macOS Catalina, you will be sent to macOS Utilities screen shortly. Don’t choose "Install macOS yet, click on “Disk Utility” for format the Machine disk first.
Select the Catalina VMware Virtual Disk and format it with Mac OS Extended
After that, comeback to macOS Utilities screen, then click on Install macOS
It then will take 20 - 30 minutes for the whole processes.
Once your installation has completed, you need to turn off your Virtual machine , switch Guest OS and Version back to “macOS 10.14” and make sure you disconnect your CD/DVD boot disk.
