Enable Writing to NTFS NTFS drives (USBs, or external Hard drives) through Terminal in Mojave
What we need to do is Enabling write support to the NTFS Drive using some command lines through Terminal.
How to enable NTFS read/write support to a Particular Drive in MacOS Mojave?
Just take the following steps.
Step 1: Determine the drive (USB or External HDD) name.
Just plugin the drive into the Mac, you then will see vert clearly the drive name on the left-side from the Finder window. In my case, the drive name is “SANDISK”.
Step 2: Execute the following command lines
- Launch Terminal (Found in Applications/Utilities), then enter the following command line to call the “fstab file”
sudo nano /etc/fstab
- The fstab file then will be called in blank by default, you now add the following line into it:
LABEL=NAME none ntfs rw,auto,nobrowse
Very important! The NAME must be replaced by your Drive Name, which is determined in the Step 1.
If the Drive Name contains spaces, you must used /040 to separate spaces. For example, if your Drive Name is “Tommy Data”, the added line must be “LABEL=Tommy/040Data none ntfs rw,auto,nobrowse”
- After that, Press exactly Ctrl + O to save and Ctrl + X to end the Terminal, and then the Full read-write access is granted to this Particular Drive.
